  What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a naturally occurring altered state of consciousness in which the critical faculty is bypassed (mind in the conscious mode) and acceptable selective thinking established. This simply means that the reasoning, evaluating, judging part of your mind (conscious) is bypassed.

How does the subconscious accept hypnotic suggestions?

Hypnotic suggestions bypass the intellectual mind, called the "conscious," and zero in on the subconscious. When given a new suggestion that is within the bounds of a person's belief system and moral orientation, the subconscious mind accepts it literally as a new reality.

Can any person be hypnotized?

People of average intelligence (unless there is some form of organic brain damage) can be hypnotized in most cases if they are willing and do not resist. The depth of hypnosis varies with a person's ability to respond. If you are not a naturally responsive subject, you can improve your receptivity to hypnosis with practice

How can Hypnotherapy help you?

Hypnotherapy can help people with a wide range of problems.

The uses of hypnotherapy include:

Breaking unwanted habits such as smoking, bedwetting, nail biting and stuttering. Habits are things that we learn, and can serve a useful purpose in some way, even if we don't know why. As they are things that we learn, we can can unlearn them. Hypnotherapy deals directly with the unconscious mind to help alter these habits to ones that are more constructive and desirable.

Obtaining relief, and often remission, from symptoms such as asthma, migraine and irritable bowel syndrome.

Skin conditions such as eczema, psoriases and warts. Embryologically, the skin is derived from the same foetal tissue as the nervous system, and they are therefore very closely linked. This means that acting on the nervous system by communicating with the unconscious mind during hypnosis can have very profound effects on skin problems.

Gynaecological problems such as PMT, dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, and in obstetrics for painless childbirth.

Pain control for dentistry, arthritis and general neuromuscular aches and pains. We have an amazing capacity for controlling our perceived levels of pain. However, pain is usually a signal to us that something is wrong. For this reason, I would never treat a patient for pain control without first obtaining written permission from their registered medical practitioner.

Freedom from phobias, obsessive compulsive behaviors, emotional problems, insomnia and inhibitions.

Relief from stress, tension, anxiety and panic attacks, a group of disorders that are becoming increasingly common in a society focused on achievement.

Reduction in blood pressure.

Weight control.

Increased performance in work, study and sport.

Improving concentration and memory.

Boosting self-confidence

Is hypnosis dangerous?

No. The induction of hypnosis is never dangerous to the subject, although personal disappointments may arise because of unrealistic expectations or preconceived information
